Mund zu Mund Word of Mouth Collages by Swiss artist Silvia Baechli in dialogue with the poems of Florian Seidel. English translation Veith von Fürstenberg

BLIND OF BLINDNESS

Never did you blush, letting your sight
wander awide. But rather had you tasted

my eyeballs, made me blind
and wiped your lids after such a visual feast.

KNIFE IN A BIRD'S CAGE

His precious gifts were asleep in the dark chamber
where I was locked as a seed. As a seed,

dampened by the gifts bestowing growth.
She nestled breathing softly towards my pulse and wished

to be thought alive. People say she can heal all wounds.
But it was my heart, that made a choice.

Peacocks boasted in the garden. A knife flashed,
and my guests were puppets. This was an advantage.

Lovers meant it well. Their wounds are frightful,
I know of each, which town is theirs.
